The Mini Gastric Bypass is performed laparoscopically. It’s a two section system that divides around 25% of the stomach from the rest of the stomach. The remaining part is named a “gastric pouch” and it is then joined to the small intestine above a surgical connection.
After surgery, most of the stomach and around 33% of the small intestine is ‘bypassed’— which means it isn’t involved in the digestion or absorption of the food you eat.
